Karly Randolph Pitman
Writer, Speaker, Teacher, and Founder of First Ourselves
Karly Randolph Pitman brings passion and tenderness to audiences who are eager to change but tired from failing at strict regimens. Karly’s compassionate insights come from having done it all when it comes to getting stuck in food: a chronic dieter, binge eater, bulimic, sugar addict, weight loss fanatic. Her long healing journey led her to found firstourselves.org, a community of women untangling from food and weight, in 2006. She’s authored Heal Your Body Image, Overcoming Sugar Addiction, and Heal Overeating: Untangled. Karly teaches six practices to befriend, not punish, your way to healing from food and weight suffering, a method she calls growing human(kind)nessTM.

Pity that Karly was not on the call, and I hope she is alright. But the call that WAS there, the substitution by the brave member who wanted to talk about her experience with cleaning out her wardrobe was inspirational. So a big thank you to you, sorry that I did not catch your name.

Ekaterin, she’s fine just had some family stuff come up unexpectedly (you know how that goes!) We’ll get our schedules together next week for sure! And I agree, the substitution call was unexpected and really enjoyable, thought-provoking stuff – thanks for tuning in

I am really keen to catch up with Karly’s call when you get to do it but thanks so much for the chat with Lenore. It’s one thing to know what you need to do with the clear out but it’s completely another actually doing it! Hearing Lenore’s story put it into context for me. I have a wardrobe full of beautiful clothes that I wore when I was a skinny post separation executive. I have hoped for several years that I would fit into them again but today’s call woke me up to the fact that I never will..and.. they’re only clothes, there will be more next year. I’m going to box them all up this afternoon and put them away for my 3 1/2 year old daughter….They’ll be real vintage by the time she gets to choose whether she’ll wear them.
Thanks Sandy and Lenore!

This was a wonderful call to end the series with. I off and on struggle with self-love (sometimes it is easy and sometimes super hard). It was great to hear that the struggle isn’t unusual, but well worth the work.
Thank you!

Hi Jackie,
Thank you for sharing your experience. I agree – the self love path can be a challenging one. And, as you said, worth it 100%. I feel supported on my own path of self love as you share your commitment – so thank you.
Much love, Karly

Very lovely talk, Karly. I have not been very good to myself, it seems. You touched on many interesting concepts… I must consider a real change in my thinking. Thank you for your honesty.

Lizzie,
You are so very welcome. I’m learning over and over again this year how honesty creates connection – a helpful lesson for me as I tend to want to hide!
In deepest love, Karly
